Google Maps Unleashes My Location Beta, So Get Lost

Can we just say, it’s about time.  Not that it’s Google’s fault, but let me tell you, carrier restrictions on handset manufacturers just sucks.  We haven’t been able to get it to work on our Palm OS Treos yet, but apparently some Windows Mobiles users have found the “blue dot” of success.  All we can say is, we don’t see no stinking dots, but so it goes with Beta software.

I for one haven’t been this stoked about an improvement like this in a long time.  I’ve always wanted to get a GPS unit for my Treo, but carrying around an additional piece of hardware seemed less than appealing.  I mean, come on, Treos are supposed to be convergence devices.  Seriously, I’m still wrestling with the idea of bluetooth headsets (ok, maybe that was a stretch.)  *Sigh*  I want to love you, Treo 755p, I really do…you just keep getting furthur and further behind.  What about that no Treo left behind legislation?  Oh, wait, nevermind.  Another gripe for another day.

Good luck to you all.  Download the most up to date version of Google Maps here.
